About Us

Action Initiative For Development (AID)

AID is a non-profit organization which is continuously engaged with the vision of holistic development mainly of the marginalized communities of the society.

AID, established in 2005, is a charitable and non profit organization dedicated to child education and youth empowerment. It focuses on uplifting marginalized communities by providing legal aid and raising awareness about their rights. AID supports education through sponsorships for children and youth, with special emphasis on facilitating higher education for young women. The organization prioritizes education and vocational training to empower underprivileged and neglected children, youth, and women. Additionally, AID actively promotes awareness of child rights and the rights of Scheduled Castes to foster social inclusion and equality.

Educational support to marginalised youth and children

The Educational Support Program empowers marginalized youth and children by providing access to quality education, life skills, and personal development opportunities. Through educational sponsorships, after-school support, digital literacy, career guidance, and skill development grants, the program addresses barriers to learning and fosters holistic growth. With over 700 children engaged and 402 families supported, the initiative promotes inclusive learning environments, extracurricular participation, and awareness of child rights. Continued donor support will help expand these efforts, enabling more underprivileged youth to break the cycle of poverty and build brighter futures.

Youth sustainability initiative

We are working on a plan for the comprehensive development of young men and women from poor families. Mainly, financial assistance is provided to the youth for higher education, Menstrual Health, financial assistance for skill training for the empowerment of the youth. Life skills training and gender training are provided to the youth for a positive attitude and strong determination. Through this, we have reached about four hundred young men and women. We are looking forward to donors to reach more young people.

Manual scavengers rehabilitation

The Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act, 2013 (MS Act, 2013) is a law that prohibits the practice of manual scavenging and provides for the rehabilitation of manual scavengers and their families. Four hundred and two families have been identified and provided with rehabilitation by the government in accordance with the law.

Childrens Empowerment Project

Every child has an inherent right to education, health, protection, and opportunities for play and holistic development. To safeguard and promote these rights, the Children's Empowerment Project focuses on establishing dedicated children's activity centers that provide foundational education and actively identify child laborers, helping them reintegrate into the formal education system. Recognizing the importance of a nurturing learning environment, the project also advocates for improved school infrastructure to meet students' needs. Children are encouraged to engage in school activities, fostering confidence, creativity, and active participation.
Additionally, the project offers comprehensive training in life skills, children's rights, and relevant legal frameworks, empowering children with the knowledge and tools necessary for their personal growth and future success.
This initiative aims to create a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment where every child can thrive and reach their full potential.

Child Activity Centers

Currently, a total of 14 Child Activity Centers are being operated with the generous support of various donors, providing educational opportunities to over 700 children. These children come from some of the most marginalized and economically disadvantaged communities, including families of manual scavengers, sweepers, sanitation workers, and other low-income groups. At these centers, children receive two and a half hours of evening education combined with interactive play-based learning. This approach not only supports their academic growth but also fosters creativity, confidence, and social skills. The engaging and supportive environment has greatly enhanced their interest and participation in learning. To further enrich these children's educational experiences and overall development, we seek continued support from donors. Additional resources will help expand facilities, improve learning materials, and create a more nurturing environment for these deserving children. Together, we can empower them to build a brighter future.

Youth Sustainability Program

The Youth Sustainability Program is dedicated to the holistic development of young men and women from economically disadvantaged families. Our primary focus is to empower youth by providing essential support and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Key initiatives under this program include:
1. Financial Assistance for Higher Education: Supporting underprivileged youth in pursuing higher education to unlock better career opportunities.
2. Menstrual Health Awareness and Support: Providing menstrual health education and resources to promote hygiene and well-being among young women.
3. Skill Training Support: Offering financial aid for skill development programs to enhance employability and economic independence.
4. Life Skills and Gender Training: Conducting training sessions to develop essential life skills, foster a positive mindset, and promote gender equality, helping youth build confidence and resilience.
Through these comprehensive efforts, we have positively impacted the lives of nearly 400 young men and women. However, to expand our reach and empower more youth, we seek continued support from donors.

Manual Scavengers Rehabilitation

The Manual Scavengers Rehabilitation Facilitation Project is dedicated to supporting the effective implementation of the Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act, 2013 (MS Act, 2013). This law strictly prohibits manual scavenging and mandates comprehensive rehabilitation for manual scavengers and their families.
In alignment with this law, 402 families have been identified and provided with rehabilitation support by the government across Davangere and other districts of Karnataka. This project aims to strengthen these efforts by providing holistic support for the socio-economic upliftment of these families.
Key Components of the Project:
1. Awareness and Advocacy: Raising awareness about the MS Act, 2013, and the rights and entitlements of manual scavengers and their families.
2. Livelihood Support: Facilitating vocational training and skill development programs to enable alternative, dignified livelihoods.
3. Educational Support: Providing educational assistance and scholarships to the children of affected families to ensure their integration into mainstream education.
4. Health and Well-being: Conducting health camps and ensuring access to healthcare services for manual scavengers and their families.
5. Legal and Financial Aid: Assisting families in accessing government schemes, financial aid, and legal support for complete rehabilitation.
This project seeks to empower manual scavenger families with sustainable livelihoods, dignity, and social inclusion. We are committed to expanding our reach and impact with the continued support of donors and stakeholders.
